Football revolves around time—and so does headline sports news. In an environment driven by urgency, one-off designs were created on the spot. I introduced structure to the chaos: rapid, prepared systems paired with narrative frameworks rooted in the discipline of iconic consumer brands—guiding readers through branded headline categories just as an article moves a reader through a story.

Visual Framework Shift Brand Narrative System
An established industry method positioned writers as the drivers of visual execution—relying on literal imagery and CMS-dependent headlines to clarify meaning. I challenged that framework. The shift from reactive collage to intentional narrative design was first echoed in writer directives, then reflected more broadly across the industry as structured compositions and subject-driven brand and headline typography became embedded in image development.
Beyond foreground category branding, additional solutions focused on strengthening recognition through restraint—using structure, typography, and color to guide navigation without overwhelming the subject. The first portfolio chapter explores Draft Scouting Reports, where simplified background identity replaced industry clutter, allowing the athlete to stand out.
