The Foundation Before AI
Every project in this portfolio was developed before the emergence of today's generative AI tools.
During the first nine years of my career, working within an Innovation & Design department supporting many of the world's leading consumer brands, I wasn't simply designing individual packaging panels. I was working within an innovation process built around creating repeatable systems. The work extended far beyond aesthetics. I participated in concept development, rapid prototyping, manufacturing feasibility, packaging innovation, and collaborative ideation with global brand teams. Success depended on developing solutions that could move from concept to large-scale production while remaining consistent, repeatable, and commercially viable.
Every consumer eventually holds the finished product. Few ever see the years of innovation, prototyping, refinement, and manufacturing that make that moment possible. That's where this story begins.
That experience fundamentally changed how I approached creative work.
When I transitioned into sports editorial, I saw an opportunity to apply those same Innovation & Design principles to an industry that largely approached each project as a one-off creative execution. Rather than producing isolated designs, I began developing methodologies that could be repeated, refined, and scaled. Those principles evolved into proprietary image refinement techniques, editorial production workflows, adaptable layout systems, visual frameworks, and creative processes designed to improve both quality and production efficiency across large volumes of content.
Years after this work was created, as generative AI began reshaping the creative industry, a UK-based design agency working with one of the world's most recognized names in sports broadcasting and digital editorial contacted me to discuss whether these methodologies could be adapted into AI-driven editorial production systems capable of generating content at scale. Those conversations reinforced something I had already learned through years of practical application: the lasting value was never a single design—it was the system behind it.
This portfolio documents that evolution. It is a chronological record of how Innovation & Design principles from the consumer products industry were translated into sports editorial years before AI became part of the creative process. Each section introduces a different methodology—from proprietary image refinement and editorial workflows to scalable layout systems and visual frameworks—showing how structured creative systems can transform the way content is produced.
At the time, these methodologies represented a departure from conventional editorial workflows by replacing isolated creative execution with repeatable systems designed for consistency, efficiency, and scale. Years later, many of those same principles became the very types of structured processes organizations began exploring for AI-assisted content production.
The work wasn't created to anticipate AI. It was created to solve problems. AI simply revealed how scalable those solutions had become.
